Looking for how to get rid of wrinkles under eyes? There are many well-known and lesser known causes of wrinkles around the body but sadly, only one effect that they have on the appearance, which is to age it. Wrinkles around the eyes in particular are extremely noticeable as the eyes and mouth are often the focus of most people’s attention when talking to somebody. For this reason, the answer to how to get rid of wrinkles under eyes is sought by many.

Causes

The appearance of wrinkles as people age is well documented. The reason this happens is that skin naturally becomes thinner over the years. The skin under the eyes is already particularly thin which is why dark circles can often be seen there as a result of the skin being more translucent, allowing the blood in the veins to be shown more clearly. As this already thin layer of skin becomes thinner and the collagen levels in the skin begin to fall (another side-effect of the ageing process), the elasticity in a person’s skin is lost. Fat deposits beneath the surface of the skin will begin to push the tissue down without as much resistance because of the lack of collagen. Gravity also plays its part and as the skin is pushed and pulled downwards, creases will form. It is these creases that are known as wrinkles.

Although age is the number one cause of wrinkles there are many other factors which can result in under eye wrinkles being present in people of all ages. Such factors include:

UV radiation damage – UV rays speed up the natural break down in collagen

Laughing/squinting – The term “laughter lines” is often given to wrinkles as the crinkling of the eyes which occurs when laughing, smiling and squinting

Muscle movement – prolonged regular muscle movement which can occur even in sleep can cause the skin to crease

With the exception of sun damage in which case precautionary measures are widely available to prevent this from causing wrinkles, many other elements that bring about wrinkles are involuntary and so cannot be avoided.

Treatment of wrinkles can be divided into 3 clear categories, all with their own advantages and disadvantages. Below you will find information on each category and know how to get rid of wrinkles under eyes.

Natural remedies

There are all sorts of natural products which contain various vitamins that work to tighten the skin and increase collagen levels thus reducing wrinkles. Over the years people have passed down home remedies which include the use of such ingredients. Below are some of the more popular ones:

Collect the juice from apples, pineapples or lemons and apply to the face. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse off with cool water. The natural acids in these fruits help to tighten the skin, decreasing the effect of wrinkles.

Whip up some egg whites and apply to the affected area with a cotton wool ball. This is best done at night just before bed time. Leave overnight and rinse the face thoroughly in the morning with cool water. The egg whites themselves contain certain vitamins that increase collagen helping to slow the natural ageing process and combat the formation of wrinkles.

Massage coconut oil around the eyes in small upward circles, being careful not to get any on the eyeball itself. Coconut oil is renowned for its ability to increase elasticity in skin and is often the main active ingredient in many stretch mark creams for exactly this reason. The purpose of small upward circular movements when massaging the skin is to work towards reversing the downward pull of gravity and increasing blood flow to the area in an attempt to rejuvenate the skin.

It should be noted that whilst many people claim success from these home remedies, the skin around the eyes is extremely sensitive and the utmost caution must be taken when applying anything in and around this area. The benefits of trying such remedies is that if a remedy does not seem to be working, the user will unlikely have spent a lot of money on the ingredients as most can be found in the home normally.

Over the counter solutions

A person need only switch on the television or log onto the internet to see the thousands of adverts for creams and solutions for under eye wrinkle treatment. The most effective of these creams tend to combine natural ingredients known to help combat wrinkles as well as dermatological know-how when combining ingredients to give the best results.

The main active ingredients in effective under eye wrinkle treatment include but are not limited to:

Hydroxyl acids – Found in many fruits, these acids work to remove the stop layer of skin, promoting regeneration of healthy skin with elevated collagen levels.

Coenzyme Q10 – This heightens the energy in cells and allows them to effectively reduce the natural signs of ageing.

Copper peptides – Small parts of proteins which actively assist the body’s natural healing system. Whilst they are more commonly known for their ability to help in the healing of wounds and reduce scar tissue, some studies have also shown anti-inflammatory effects. It is thought that the copper peptides will help in rejuvenation of skin, preventing wrinkles from forming.

Anti-wrinkle solutions and creams range widely in value with some costing as little as $9.99 whereas others sit comfortably in the 3 figure bracket. For more information on the best anti aging products visit the link below:

The Best Anti Aging Products

Surgery

Often seen as the most extreme solution in the quest of abolishing wrinkles under the eyes, surgery is also the most expensive. Yet for people with severe wrinkles around the eyes where creams natural remedies fall redundant, surgery is often their choice of preference if they feel deeply uncomfortable with their appearance.

Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure whereby the skin is cut near the lids of the eyes in order for the fat which pushes at the skin, causing it to sag and crease is sucked out. This is an extremely invasive procedure with risks of permanent damage to the muscles and tendons around the eye. As with any surgery, it is not a decision to be taken lightly.

Under eye bags are a common problem for many people and most do not like the overall effect this look has on their appearance, often complaining that it makes them appear older or overly tired. Whilst age and fatigue can be two prominent factors resulting in bags under eyes, it is important to realize that there are different types of these ‘bags’, each with different causes.

What Causes Bags Under Eyes? – Morning Bags

Many people of all ages may wake in the morning following a good night’s sleep to find bags under their eyes. A few hours later, the bags are gone with no clear explanation as to why they were there in the first instance. These types of under eye bags are caused by the retention of water and can normally be attributed to the individual:

Drinking fluids right before bed time the previous evening

Eating foods rich in salt the previous day

Either or both of these actions can cause water retention in the body. When the person sleeps, the fluid will sometimes come to reside in the area around the eye. As the day goes on and the water is absorbed into the main body, the bags will dissipate naturally.

Bags of Allergies

Allergies can cause a histaminic reaction causing the area around the eyes to swell and give a ‘puffy’ appearance. If this is the case it is advisable to look at any changes in bedding or diet to find a solution.

In rarer cases, the shape of the swelling around the eyes might differ. This may be a strong indicator of an under active thyroid or kidney problem. A doctor should be consulted if worried.

Changes in hormone levels during menstruation can lead to puffy eyes, which is why many women complain of looking tired with bags under their eyes during this time.

Growing Bags of Time

The most commonly thought about under eye bags are the ones that get progressively worse through age. They often begin small and gradually build up over the years. In many cases these bags under the eyes are synonymous with dark circles and/or wrinkles around the area.

What causes bags under eyes such as these is the degradation of collagen in the skin. This happens naturally over time for everyone. As the collagen deteriorates in the skin around the eyes, the skin itself loosens and begins to sag. Underlying fat which has previously been kept at bay by tight skin is now allowed to spill out and push against the skin around the eye socket thus producing the bags.

This lessening in the skins elasticity is an inevitable effect of the body’s natural aging process for everyone. However there are certain variables in this process which an individual’s genetic make-up will dictate. If a person’s parents suffer from pronounced bags under the eyes then it is likely that so will they, just as people who seem able to hold on to relatively firm skin around at an older age will most likely pass this trait down to their fortunate children.

Conclusion

The different types of under eye bags have different treatments to help reduce or prevent the appearance of them. In other cases where hormones or age itself is to blame then, outside of surgery, which many people see as a drastic measure, there is no real cure for the affliction. There are a great many creams and home remedies that may help with the situation and although there is no scientifically proven link between the two, many believe that a healthy active lifestyle may put off those aging bags for a few more years.

For women, it is a common problem that is catered for by various pharmaceutical companies, however, for dark circles under the eyes, men may find it more difficult to find answers. To address the problem, it is important to understand the factors which may be the cause.

Causes of Dark Circles in Men

Dark circles under the eyes can often look like small bruises in that they are of a dark bluish tone. In actual fact, just as with bruises where the discoloration comes from blood collecting close to the skins surface, the dark circles that appear beneath the eye are caused in the same way. Unlike with bruising though, the dark circles are not caused from skin trauma and damaged blood cells. In comparison to the rest of the skin on the face, the area under the eye is a lot thinner. This means that as the blood travels round this area in the more prominent veins close to the surface, a bluish tint can be seen in the skin. Whilst this is the cause of dark circles, there are many underlying factors that can exacerbate the situation. Common causes in men are:

Fatigue – possibly the most commonly attributed factor to dark circles in anybody. Fatigue and tiredness can lead to paler looking skin. As the skin appears paler, the circles appear darker.

Heredity – Some people naturally have thinner skin tissue than others bringing about the appearance of dark circles. If a man is from a family that has this trait, it is likely that he too will suffer from darkening under the eyes.

Allergies, Eczema, Colds – Irritation of the skin such as with Eczema, which can lead to rubbing around the eye area, may lead to the skin darkening. Allergies and colds can cause the sinuses to become enflamed which in turn, can put strain on the blood vessels close to the skins surface, again worsening the effect of dark circles under the eyes.

Age – If a man is prone to having dark circles under the eyes for any of the above reasons, the effect will more than likely worsen as he ages. This is purely because the skin tissue all over the body thins out during the aging process. As the skin grows thinner beneath the eyes, the blood in the veins beneath will become more visible. Wrinkles beneath the eyes can also heighten the appearance of discoloration.

Sun/Tanning salon – Everyone knows that sunbathing tans the skin. This is because the UV rays draw melanin to the surface. Some pharmaceutical products often found in tanning salons even claim to help this process along with different creams for a faster tan. It stands to reason that if the rest of the skin has its melanin drawn to the surface whilst sunbathing, then so does the area under the eyes and again, the effect is worsened.

Can Dark Circles be Cured?

Often, keeping hydrated, active and ensuring that the right amount of sleep is had each night can counteract many factors which accumulate to cause dark circles under the eyes in men. There are many creams on the market these days containing vitamins which act to plump up the skin around the eyes. This lessens the hollow of the skin, reducing shadows. In the case of dark circles being a symptom of an illness such as liver or kidney dysfunction, a remedy for the illness itself could resolve the problem. Yet in most cases, where the aging process is the domineering factor, there is no real cure for the problem, only simple steps that can be taken each day to try to prevent the circles from appearing or reduce the effects.

Puffy eyes from crying are a problem for many people. The swelling in the eyelids and under eye area can look and feel sore. As the cause of what brought a good cry on is probably personal to each individual, not many like to go out into public with the tell-tale swollen eyes. Due to the nature of the problem, time and patience will see a resolution but for those who have pressing engagements, they may want to try to hurry the process along. To do this it is necessary to know why crying has this inflammatory effect on the eyes in the first place.

Why Crying Leads to Puffy Eyes

When crying, tear ducts release a fluid containing sodium. As the sodium comes into contact with the lids and surrounding skin about the eye, it causes a reaction inducing swelling in the area. This is not unlike an allergic reaction and can often cause irritation and soreness.

In addition to this, the salty liquid causes local dehydration leading to retention of fluid around the eyes. This is very similar to the cause of morning bags under the eyes where fluid has come to rest in the eyes overnight if a person has eaten salty foods in the day. The formula in tears can often onset drowsiness which is why many people often fall asleep following a good cry, making the swelling around the eyes worse when they awake.

How to Treat Puffy Eyes

Although the swelling that arises from crying will diminish on its own over time, it is possible to encourage the natural healing process and alleviate some of the tenderness. The following are some of the favored ways to do this:

Chilled cucumber slices – The high water content in the cucumber acts to rehydrate the eye area. The coolness of the cucumber soothes the soreness in the lids

Drinking water – This will help to restore hydration levels and prevent the skin around the eyes from retaining water

Splashing cool water on the face – This will wash away any remaining tears which may otherwise prolong the effect that the sodium has on the skin. The coolness in the water will help towards reducing inflammation and irritation

Sleep – Although sleep immediately after crying will undoubtedly make the swelling worse, with a few hours between crying and sleep, there is less chance of fluid retention and more chance of the body correcting itself during the sleep cycle as it normally does

Many people choose to rely on shop-bought treatments, often keeping an assortment of creams on hand in case of unexpected cases of puffy eyes. Whilst there are a range of products out there for this, it is thought by professionals that the creams and solutions containing natural ingredients such as Aloe Vera and Chamomile will produce the best results. These ingredients are known widely for their soothing qualities and are considered safe to be used on all skin types. Chamomile is often used to reduce the effects of skin irritating problems in young children such as chicken pox. Both these and other ingredients found in skin creams, contain anti-inflammatory qualities which are perfect for relieving the swelling around the eyes after crying.

When the aging process is considered a predominant cause of dark circles under the eyes, children may not be expected to suffer from this particular problem. Yet it is quite common to see children with dark circles beneath the eye. As with adults, the dark circles are formed as the blood in the veins close to the surface of the eyes is more apparent, presenting a darkening of skin color. The area under the eye is prone to discoloring as the skin is much thinner here so the veins are more visible. Certain elements which can cause dark circles under the eyes in adults are not true for children. For instance fatigue, sleepless nights and age induced thinner skin are not common causes of the problem in healthy children.

Fair Skin

Children with fair skin may suffer from the appearance of dark circles beneath the eyes purely as a contrast to their natural skin coloration.

Diet/Lack of Vitamins

Lack of certain vitamins such as A, C, D and E are often thought to cause darkening beneath the eyes. This can be brought about by dietary choices and is one of the simplest elements to reverse by introducing more of the lacking vitamins into a child’s everyday diet. Although this is often one of the first causes people think about in relation to dark circles beneath the eyes in children, most doctors claim that it is quite rare to find this to be the case.

Anemia

Whilst anemia can cause dark circles under the eyes, this is not the only symptom and if the child is presenting with only the dark circles, it is extremely unlikely that anemia is to blame.

Parents

Just as with eye color, height and the shape of a child’s nose, dark circles under the eyes can be inherited from the parents and other family members. When coupled with fair skin, the matter of dark circles may be more prominent and there is very little to be done to rectify the situation.

Allergies, Colds, Irritating Skin Conditions

The most common cause of darkening under the eyes for children is some form of allergy or a cold causing congestion in and around the nasal passage. As the nasal passage becomes blocked from the onset of a cold the blood vessels and veins around the area beneath the eye become strained and inflamed. As this happens, the appearance of the blood in the affected veins and vessels become more pronounced, causing the areas where there is less skin coverage to darken. Likewise, skin conditions such as Eczema, on the face can cause a child to rub at the area around their eyes. This can often aggravate the problem.

Is a Doctor Needed?

When dark circles present themselves beneath the eyes of children all factors should be considered. If it is likely that the problem is hereditary or genetic in some way owing to fair skin etc. then there is probably no need to call the doctor.

However when dark circles beneath the eyes are one of a few symptoms, there could well be an underlying health issue. If a child is breathing mostly through the mouth, snoring badly or suffering from a blocked nose as well as the dark circles; allergies, chronic sinusitis or blocked adenoids could be the problem. Alternatively, dizziness, reoccurring headaches and shortness of breath could be a sign of anemia. When symptoms such as these show themselves together, it is best to consult a doctor.

Whilst it is rare for dark circles under the eyes in children to mean that there is a serious health issue, parents should treat any change in a child’s usual demeanor with caution and if in doubt, consult a doctor for more information.

Hundreds of years ago Spanish explorers searched all over Florida looking for the alleged “fountain of youth.” They were unsuccessful. Yet today there are still others who are looking for a magical potion or system that will help extend our lives longer than what is considered normal. Could it be that the secret to longevity is not secretly locked away after all? Could it be that increasing life expectancy is simply a matter of adopting an anti aging diet? There’s growing evidence to suggest that’s the case.

If it’s true that eating large amounts of processed foods and fats is not good for us, it’s only reasonable that there must be some alternate foods that are good for us. If we can find those foods and include them in our diets on a regular basis we ought to be able to extend the average lifespan by at least a few years. According to some scientists and nutritionists that’s a very real possibility.

Free Radicals

If you’ve never heard the term “free radicals” rest assured that they are not terrorists recently let out of jail. They are certain types of oxygen molecules known to encourage the onset of things like heart disease, Alzheimer’s, certain types of cancers, osteoporosis, and others. Foods rich in anti-oxidants help reduce the levels of free radicals which in turn help to reduce the likelihood of many of these diseases. Fish and richly colored vegetables are just two examples of such foods.

In combination with reducing free radicals an anti aging diet also must include foods with natural anti-inflammatory defects. That’s because inflammation is a normal part of aging and something that is quite destructive at the cellular level. Foods that reduce inflammation are helpful in treating things like rheumatoid arthritis, back pain, muscle deterioration, and so forth. Interestingly enough, many of the foods that are rich in anti-oxidants also have natural anti-inflammatory properties.

Fats: Essential and Nonessential

Believe it or not, not all fats are created equal; some are actually good for us. Omega-3 fatty acids, for example, are necessary for healthy skin. They are also anti-inflammatory, helpful to the immune system, and beneficial to promoting the natural healthy benefits of moderate sunlight. Tuna is one of the best sources of these types of fatty acids. On the other hand, trans fats and saturated fats are not good for us. Reducing their levels in our diets can help stave off coronary disease, heart attacks, vascular disease, and some types of cancers.

Water and Tea

We all know that water is important, but it is especially beneficial in an anti aging diet along with green tea. Water keeps us well hydrated while green tea contains a fair amount of anti-oxidants. Green tea also possesses some anti-inflammatory properties as well. Doctors suggest that green tea is most effective in helping to promote healthy skin and ward off certain types of non melanoma skin cancer. And since our skin is our first immunological defense, a good anti-aging diet should address it adequately.

At some point in their life, everyone has suffered from puffy eyes as the tissue around the eyes has become swollen and sometimes red. So what causes puffy eyes and how to reduce puffy eyes?

What are puffy eyes?

Puffy eyes occur when the tissues surrounding the eyes becomes swollen, typically caused by a build up of fluid also called fluid retention. Tiredness can make the puffiness more obvious, and in older people, as skin tone is lost, puffiness becomes more easily seen, as the skin surrounding the eye area is less plump.

What can cause fluid retention?

Some causes of fluid retention include pregnancy or menstruation, as these are normally hormonal causes; when the hormones rebalance, the fluid retention is reduced. Excess salt can also cause fluid retention, as can some allergies, alcohol and tobacco or even crying. In other cases, illness or skin disorders can cause fluid retention. In each of these cases, the fluid retention can cause puffy eyes.

How to reduce puffy eyes?

Whilst hormonal causes of puffy eyes such as pregnancy will right themselves in time, in many cases, over the long term, puffy eyes can be improved by taking steps to eliminate the causes. For example, an improved diet will most likely reduce the salt intake and reduce alcohol intake meaning that fluid retention and fatigue will be reduced thus reducing puffy eyes. Taking antihistamines can reduce the effect of allergic reactions, for example hay fever, and thus in turn, reduce the swelling of the tissues around the eyes.

Can puffy eyes be improved in the short term?

Although in the long term puffy eyes can be alleviated by improvements in diet and lifestyle, in the short term, steps can be taken to reduce the unsightly swelling too. Applying cold compressed to the eye area can substantially reduce puffiness as the cold will constrict the blood vessels thus reducing the flow of blood and thus fluid to the surrounding tissues. Similarly, the application of an astringent tonic to the area will have a similar effect. Along these lines, the application of cucumber slices to the eyes works in this way as cucumber is a natural astringent and combined with it most probably having come from the fridge and so being cold, the puffiness will be reduced.

Although unsightly, puffy eyes are often only temporary and can be alleviated by changes in lifestyle. However, in the short term, steps can be taken to reduce puffiness. And when all else fails, a make up concealer with light reflecting particles can always work wonders!

Everyone would like to cheat the aging process just a bit. Whilst there are plenty of extortionate anti aging treatments out there, not everyone has the desire to inject chemicals into their face that cause paralysis, even if they could afford it! How to stay young without going down such drastic routes is, however, something everyone, with a bit of care and attention, can manage. Here is how:

Stress less…

Stress is aging, both physically and mentally. Ongoing stress can be mentally draining and exhausting and when you are exhausted, you look older. In addition, stress causes the release of hormones and if these hormones are released too often, the body can’t cope with them, causing issues with the endocrine system which can in turn cause illness. When looking at how to stay young, avoiding the aging effect of stress has to be right up there.

…but keep active

Advising you to avoid stress is not, however, a carte blanche to be a lazy bones. Instead, an important aspect of how to stay young is to keep busy. By taking part in activities, learning new skills, taking trips and journeys, no matter how small, a positive outlook will be maintained, mobility will be maintained and mental alertness continually honed. Studies have proved that all of these things can help combat the effects of aging.

You are what you eat

Okay, perhaps the title is a bit of a cliché but that doesn’t mean to say it is wrong! In fact, eating healthily can be a great boon in the search for how to stay young. But eating healthily doesn’t mean eating faddishly.

Eating fats, particularly omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, can help keep you in tip top condition physically but eating too many saturated fats can clog up your arteries and cause heart disease. Eating too much sugar can lead to diabetes and heart disease but not eating enough sugars can leave your body without fuel and so without energy. The key is sensible eating.

You’ve got to smile

A positive outlook, taking pleasure in life and finding something to smile or laugh about every day will go a long way in help you in your quest of how to stay young. Happiness is not only infectious, but keeps your mind and your body more youthful.

So when it comes to seeking ways of how to stay young there are plenty of simple and free ways in which aging can be staved off.

One of the big buzz words in the beauty industry these days is anti aging serum. But what is it? And does it work as an anti-aging skin treatment?

The Inevitability of Aging Skin

Time and tide wait for no man and whether we like it or not, we all get older. As we age, our skin loses its youthful glow. The sun is one main culprit in the aging of skin, but other environmental factors such as pollution can also cause skin to age. Personal factors such as our diet, the stress levels we are exposed to, whether or not we smoke and our genes also all can contribute to the skin becoming less smooth, lines and wrinkles occurring and skin tone becoming more uneven. Can anti aging serum reduce the effects of any of these things?

What Are Anti-Aging Serums?

Anti-aging serums are typically a light gel like product that contains an active ingredient. The most common active ingredients are Vitamin C, retinol, peptides or glycolic acid.

How Do Anti Aging Serums Work?

The lightness of the serum means it is easily absorbed into the skin, thus delivering the active ingredient to the layers of skin where it can get to work. However, it is not quite that simple as often the active ingredients tend to degrade quickly if dissolved in a fluid. Because of this, typically, anti-aging serums use microcapsule technology to carry the active ingredients within the serum so that they do not lose their potency whilst in the packaging.

What Effect Do The Active Ingredients Have On The Skin?

The active ingredients in anti aging serums can act upon the skin in different ways. Vitamin C is clinically proven to stimulate collagen production which can help restore the radiance and tone to skin. Glycolic acid, on the other hand, exfoliates the top layer of dead and dying skin cells thus leaving the skin, quite literally, brighter and fresher.

How Should The Serums Be Applied?

The lightness of anti aging serums makes them easily absorbed into the skin; because of this, they are best applied after cleansing the skin but before applying moisturiser. Moisturiser can be then applied on top of them. Depending on the active ingredients in the serum, certain precautions are required. Vitamin C can be acidic, so care should be taken as to which other products are used with it, also Glycolic acid serums can cause the skin to be very sensitive to the sun, so should be used at night and sunscreen should be used during the day.

As a tool to reduce the effects of aging upon the skin, anti-aging serums can be extremely beneficial. Whilst the potency of the ingredients means that care should be taken, the effects can be great.

Dr. Moy has based his research on what is known as the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). EGF compounds aid in achieving healthy skin by promoting the body’s natural repair mechanisms so that damaged and aging skin is repaired quickly and effectively. The EGF compound used in DNA EGF Renewal comes from Icelandic barley whose properties were discovered by researchers in a well-respected biotechnology lab in Iceland.

DNA EGF Renewal is a six-product regimen which promotes healthy skin at both the cellular and DNA levels. While Dr. Moy’s EGF compound works at the cellular level, the product also contains enzymes known to stimulate DNA repair in the human body. The combination of both does wonders in repairing and rejuvenating skin.

Nobody wants wrinkles and fine lines as they are the ultimate sign of aging and the one that you can do the least about. However for most of us, fine lines and wrinkles will start to appear when we actually still feel quite young. Unfortunately for us most of the wrinkles that we get will be in places that are very noticeable. We could probably handle the odd wrinkle on our back or chest for example but the bad news is that most of the time we get wrinkles around mouth or around the eyes.

Getting Rid of Them

If you are upset about wrinkles around mouth and eyes then you will be glad to know that there are a number of ways to get rid of them and you will find some examples below:

One of the best ways to get rid of wrinkles around mouth is to use an anti wrinkle cream. Some of these anti wrinkle serums, gels and creams will plump up the skin and will cause the appearance of wrinkles to be reduced. However it is very important that you make sure to choose a good product. The anti aging product industry is one where there is plenty of money to be made and there are both good and bad products available on the market so you need to do your research to make sure you don’t end up with a useless product.

Collagen is a natural substance in the body which keeps the skin firm and elastic. It is the reduction in collagen when we get older that causes our skin to become saggier and to get wrinkles. That is why you will find that most good anti aging creams for wrinkles around mouth will have collagen in them. Make sure you check the ingredients of the product you are considering before you buy to see if it has collagen.

One of the biggest causes of wrinkles around mouth is smoking. When you smoke a cigarette, you pucker your lips by sucking on the cigarette and years of doing this causes fine lines and wrinkles to appear here. If you don’t want to end up with these unsightly wrinkles around mouth then you should quit smoking. Your health will also improve if you give up this nasty habit.

Another cause of wrinkles on the skin is too much exposure to the sun. Make sure that you always apply sun cream when you are going to be out and about in the sun.

Being too thin is another reason why wrinkles appear. When you have more fatty tissue on your body, you will find that you are less likely to get wrinkles. Although most women would not want to be fat, it is true that the thinner you are as you get older, the more wrinkles you tend to have and the older you tend to look.

If you have wrinkles around mouth then you should try to do all you can to get rid of them. If you do not have them, then you should make sure that you start a routine of prevention so they are less likely to appear.

If you have wrinkles in your skin then you will probably want to find ways to get rid of them.

If you have wrinkles in your skin then you will probably want to find ways to get rid of them. Unfortunately there is not a lot that you can do to get rid of your wrinkles totally but there are many wrinkle filler creams available these days that claim to be able to fill them in. Wrinkle fillers aim to help the body produce more collagen and therefore make the skin smoother and more firm. They are also said to puff up the skin around the wrinkle and therefore ‘fill’ it so that you look younger.

As we age, we may feel the same inside but our bodies tend to let the side down with wrinkles, age spots, sagging skin and hair loss a few of the signs that give us away. Nobody wants to have fine lines or wrinkles telling everyone else that we are getting on a bit so that is why wrinkle filler creams has become so popular lately.

How Do Wrinkle Filler Creams Work?

Most wrinkle filler creams contain hyaluron fillers and hyaluronic acid which are known as filler substances. We have these substances in our bodies already but the production of them tends to decline with age. Without enough of these substances, our bodies will start to let the signs of aging appear and we will often find that our skin becomes less firm. When the skin starts to sag, wrinkles will not be long in coming. Wrinkle filler creams however, will boost the production of hyaluronic acid which will cause the skin to puff out and the skin around the wrinkle to fill out. You can often notice a marked reduction in the appearance of the wrinkles with these wrinkle filler creams.

Are They Any Good?

If you choose the right wrinkle filler cream then you may be shocked at the results. However do not expect to see a major difference overnight. To see the difference, you should take a photo of your face before you start and then continue to use the cream for a couple of months. When you take another photo and compare the two, you may see a huge difference. But you also have to be realistic here. Good wrinkle filler creams can make a big difference to the appearance of your wrinkles but you will be hard pressed to find one that can get rid of them totally. The only way to do this at the moment is with plastic surgery.

Wrinkle filler creams are great if you want to improve the appearance of wrinkles and if you are not expecting miracles. You are not suddenly going to look like a twenty year old again because you have started using these creams. Make sure that you are aware of this before you start using them so that you are not left feeling disappointed with the results.

For most of us, the first place that we notice the signs of aging is when we get wrinkles under our eyes. Wrinkles under eyes can happen when we are still considered to be quite young such as in our early thirties and it is something that most of us would love to avoid if we could. Fortunately there are a number of creams and gels available for the prevention of wrinkles under eyes. But before you head out to buy a wrinkle cream for this area of your face, you should stop and find out about what ingredients are the ones that work and what you should be on the lookout for.

Cause of Wrinkles Under Eyes

The main cause of wrinkles under eyes is a reduction in the amount of collagen and elastin in our skin. When skin cells around the eyes start to diminish, wrinkles can form and this can be the start of the signs of aging. The skin around the eyes is naturally thinner and more sensitive and as it starts to think even more because of the reduction in skin cells, you will start to notice fine lines and wrinkles. A good anti wrinkle cream for the eyes can help.

How to Get Rid of Wrinkles Under Eyes

There are a number of ways to get rid of wrinkles under eyes. Natural methods include placing cucumber slices on your eyes for fifteen minutes each day as this is thought to prevent the eyes from getting tired and puffy.

You could also consider surgery for wrinkles in the eye area but this does seem a bit drastic. However if your eye wrinkles are bothering you that much then you might want to go down this route. If you do then it is best to speak to a qualified cosmetic surgeon with a good reputation to find out what your options are.

Applying anti wrinkle cream for the eyes is a good idea as well. Some of the creams available these days are great for helping to reduce the signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. If you do want to buy a good eye cream for wrinkles then you need to make sure it can do the following:

Boost levels of collagen and elastin in the body.

Help to eradicate free radicals because of the antioxidants it contains.

Help to revitalize your skin cells so that your skin appears healthy and moist.

Make sure there are plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in any eye cream that you buy and be sure to do your research beforehand as many of these manufacturers will claim that their cream can do wonders without having sufficient evidence to support their claims. If you are going to be spending money on an eye cream then you need to make sure that you buy one that is going to work.

As we get older it can become quite clear to everyone that our body is starting to show some signs of wear and tear. The aging process is something that everyone has to deal with but these days some people will handle it better than others. Years ago it was just something that we had to live with no matter how upsetting it was.

However, these days there are many people who will do absolutely anything to slow down the aging process. Thankfully, there are many things that we can do in order to stave off the signs of aging and if we take care of ourselves from a young age, then we can look much younger as we age.

Signs of Aging

You might not be aware of this but the aging process actually begins when we are in our twenties. This is thought to be when we are in our prime when we look our best. However although the aging process is starting at this time, the signs may not appear for years afterwards. Some of the signs of the aging process include:

Fine lines and wrinkles

Hair loss

Dry itchy skin

Sagging skin

Transparent thin skin

Greying hair

Hair growth in strange places

Loss of firmness of the skin such as on the neck and hands

The above are not things that will appear overnight but they will still be happening under the skin and will eventually become apparent. Not everyone will show all of these signs of aging and although there is nothing that you can do to prevent the aging process from occurring, there are a number of things that you can do to prevent the signs from showing.

How to Avoid the Signs of the Aging Process

There are a number of things that you can do to reduce the signs of aging including:

Keep your skin nourished and healthy by drinking plenty of water every day. This will hydrate your skin and prevent fine lines and wrinkles.

One of the biggest causes of older looking skin is too much sun. People who are obsessed with having a sun tan will usually age quicker and can often be left with leathery looking skin.

Smoking is another thing that can age a person before their time. The sucking action of this habit leads to lines and wrinkles around the mouth and the harmful chemicals in the cigarettes will make a person look older than their years.

Eating healthily is another way to reduce the signs of the aging process. If you stay away from too many processed foods and try to include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your diet then you can be sure to look and feel much younger.

Although we cannot stop ourselves from getting older we can make sure that we do all we can when we are younger to help stave off the signs of the aging process.

We all want to look as young as possible because the signs of aging can be difficult to take when you feel young inside. Nobody wants to have wrinkles, age spots or sagging skin and that is why anti aging vitamins are becoming very popular these days. There are a number of vitamins that are said to slow down the signs of aging and below are just a few examples:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is something that most of us already have in our diets and it is just as well because this is a very important anti aging vitamin. It helps to eliminate free radicals from our bodies which we have ingested from things like cigarette smoke, pollution and radiation. Vitamin C is also great for protecting the skin against harmful UV rays from the sun and it is instrumental in increasing the body’s production of collagen which helps to keep the skin firm. Vitamin C can be found in fruit and vegetables such as pomegranate, lemons, guava, oranges, broccoli and potatoes. Another reason why Vitamin C is so vital in fighting the signs of aging is because it is helpful in preventing a number of cancers as well as preventing the development of heart disease and in preventing cataracts from forming.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is one of the best anti aging vitamins that you can take. It is used in many anti aging products and can be found naturally in fatty fish and eggs. It can also be bought as a supplement over the counter. Vitamin A is an antioxidant which helps to prevent age related skin degeneration and a number of age related conditions such as osteoporosis or arthritis. There are many skin creams and eye creams which contain Vitamin A because it is said to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines as well as dark circles around the eyes.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E can be taken as over the counter anti aging vitamins but is also found naturally in seeds, nuts, vegetable oils and green leafy vegetables. As with Vitamin A, Vitamin E is also a very important ingredient in many topical creams as it helps the skin to retain moisture. It is a very important ingredient in a number of sun creams because of the way it can protect against harmful UVB rays. As well as being instrumental in preventing the signs of aging in our skin, Vitamin E also helps to prevent against heart attacks and strokes, cancers, brain decline and high cholesterol. It is also used to prevent the blood from clotting.

Vitamin K

As we get older it can become harder to sleep and when we don’t get enough sleep it often shows in the form of dark circles around our eyes. Dark circles around the eyes can cause us to look older than we are. However it is not just insufficient sleep that can cause these dark circles because they are also caused by leaking capillaries. The good news is that these leaking capillaries can be helped by taking Vitamin K. We do produce Vitamin K in the body but not enough to combat dark circles around the eyes. Thankfully it is found in green vegetables such as broccoli, kale, spinach and lettuce.

Making sure we get enough anti aging vitamins can help to ensure we look younger for longer.

Most of us do not like to be seen as getting older. These days there are more and more people trying to fight off the signs of aging. After all, you may still feel very young inside but your body is telling everyone different. Thankfully there is plenty that you can do to fight off the aging process and there are a number of anti aging tips that will help you to do this.

How to Stay Looking Younger

If you take care of yourself when you are younger then you will look and feel better as you get older. There are so many things that can age us prematurely so it makes sense to avoid these. Our life expectancy is increasing all the time so the last thing we want is to look old before our time. If you can stay fit and active then you will live longer and look younger. Below are a few anti aging tips that will help you to look and feel younger for longer:

It makes sense to try and avoid wrinkles as these are a tell tale sign of aging. Wrinkles are something that cannot be avoided totally but you can reduce them by making sure that your skin is nourished and hydrated and the best way of doing this is to make a point of drinking plenty of water. It is recommended that you drink between six and eight glasses every day.

Keeping fit is another way to stave off the aging process. If you are active then your body will not start to show the signs of aging such as stiff joints and sore muscles. The fitter you are the longer it will take for the aging process to begin. Walking is said to be one of the best forms of exercise as it is not harsh on the body and it tends to use a lot of your muscles. Another great exercise is swimming as it uses most of the muscles in your body.

If you really want to stay fit and look younger, then you need to incorporate some cardiovascular exercise into your routine. By getting the blood pumping, you are keeping your heart healthy and this is one of the best anti aging tips you could find. Aerobic exercise will keep your lungs healthy as well.

Try to eat a healthy diet. Too much junk food is bad for our health so it is very important that you eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. If you want to stave off the aging process then it would be wise to incorporate some salmon or other oily fish into your diet every week. This is full of vitamins and omega 3 so it can combat free radicals which are known to cause disease.

There are many fruits which are known to combat the aging process such as papaya, cantaloupe and guava so these should be included in your diet.

The above are just some of the great anti aging tips which will ensure that you stay looking and feeling young.

Most people these days are not too bothered about the aging process but they are bothered about what the aging process does to their body. We all know that we have to get older but when your body starts to look much older than you feel inside, it can be hard to take. That is why so many people these days will take anti aging supplements. The supplements are said to help in the fight against the signs of aging.

What Triggers the Aging Process?

Wrinkles, age spots and sagging skin are examples of the aging process that most of us would like to avoid if we could. Thankfully, researchers are constantly trying to discover what causes certain signs of aging and what will work to fight against it. It is thought that cell damage is one of the main causes of the aging process. When the cells in our bodies start to mature, they can become damaged and die off and then because we are older, these cells do not get replaced. Cellular degeneration is probably the biggest reason for the signs of aging.

The Best Anti Aging Supplements

There are plenty of anti aging supplements available on the market today and this is big business because reducing the signs of aging is something that almost everyone wants to do. Anti aging supplements do not have to cost a small fortune but you do need to make sure you are buying good quality products that have shown results. Before you buy any of these supplements you need to make sure that you find out as much as you can about them. Try to stay away from products that claim to be able to do this, that and the other without much evidence to back up these claims.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine

If you are looking for a good anti aging supplement then try to find one that contains Acetyl-L-Carnitine. This ingredient will replace amino acids in the body and is thought to be one of the best ingredients at fighting the signs of aging.

CoQ10

One of the best anti aging supplements found on the market today is CoQ10. This is instrumental in providing energy to human cells. CoQ10 is found naturally in the body but as we age the amount declines so it is a good idea to restore the levels of CoQ10 by taking a regular supplement.

HGH (Human Growth Hormone)

A lot of people these days will use HGH but it is one of the more controversial anti aging supplements available. It is something that has been used for years by many top celebrities and by a number of athletes but the problem with this supplement is that it can cause a number of side effects. The reason it is taken is because it is said to be able to help people look and feel younger while aiding weight loss and helping to build lean muscle tissue.

As we get older, we tend to suffer on the inside and the outside. We become more prone to diseases and ailments and we also tend to suffer with signs of aging such as wrinkles, loss of hair and age spots. The aging process is not something we can stop but it is something we can try to slow down. That is why so many people these days are on the look out for anti aging medicine.

What is Anti Aging Medicine?

When we age our cells begin to degenerate and this is what causes the signs of aging to appear. Without these cells, we become more prone to diseases such as Alzheimer’s, osteoporosis, arthritis, high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancers. Thankfully anti aging medicine will help to combat these problems.

Anti aging medicine is considered to be the treatment and early detection of age related illnesses. When you get to the age where you are more at risk of developing diseases like cancer, diabetes etc, you should make a point of having regular check ups. Mammograms are routinely given for women over the age of fifty and there are many other tests that can be done as well in order to help combat the aging process such as tests for bone density, lipid profiles and hormone profiles for example.

Exercise and Diet

Anti aging medicine will help us to spot and identify diseases early so that we can treat them accordingly. If you do want to help prevent the aging process from getting underway in your body, then the best thing to do is to make sure you stay fit and healthy. Eating healthy food and staying away from processed junk is one way to make sure that you are less likely to develop certain diseases and illnesses.

If you keep fit and active you will also be less likely to develop conditions such as osteoporosis and arthritis. As with anything, it is better to prevent something than have to cure it so if you can make sure you have a healthy diet and exercise regularly, this is the best anti aging medicine there is.

Life Expectancy

Our bodies will change naturally over the years and as we get older we become weaker and more susceptible to diseases. Anti aging medicine focuses on the reasons why this happens and ways to prevent or reduce the effects. We now have a much longer life expectancy than we had a few decades ago and there are a number of reasons for this. Learning how to stop the spread of infectious diseases as well as the many drugs that have been developed to treat certain conditions has all helped us to live longer. Another reason why we are living longer is because we now know how important certain foods are for our health and how clean water is essential. So you could say that antibiotics, disease immunisations, food inspections and water sanitisation are all considered to be anti aging medicine.

These days there is a lot of pressure on us to stay looking and feeling young. Because we feel young and active on the inside, it can be frustrating when we start to show our age on the outside. However, there are a number of things that we can do to slow down the aging process. Thankfully there are a number of anti aging foods that will help to fight the signs of aging. Below are a few examples:

Fish

It is very important that you are eating sufficient amounts of protein and you should also be including some fat in your body. There are many foods which will provide you with both fat and protein but instead of eating red meat for example, you should consider eating fish instead. There are a number of types of fish which will provide you with Omega 3 fatty acids which are said to lower your risk of developing heart disease and can boost your immune system. Trout and salmon are great sources of oily fish that contain Omega 3. Another great benefit of eating oily fish is that it is said to be helpful at preventing some types of cancer.

Berries

Berries are also great anti aging foods. This is because a lot of them contain antioxidants called phytochemicals. Antioxidants are essential for the fight against disease causing free radicals. Examples of berries that contain these antioxidants are blueberries, blackberries and blackcurrants.

Nuts

Eating nuts is a great way to give your immune system a boost. They are high in fiber and contain iron, selenium, potassium, magnesium, zinc and copper. They are good for keeping your cholesterol under control but only if you eat raw, unsalted nuts and keep it to a sensible amount. While eating a few nuts every day is good, you should avoid large amounts as they are quite high in fat.

Avocado

Avocado is a fruit that many people tend to avoid because they have heard that it is high in fat. However, although it does contain fat, it is monounsaturated fat which is actually good fat. This fat will help to reduce cholesterol and when it comes to keeping the skin smooth and young looking, you will find that the vitamin E in avocados is fantastic.

Wholemeal Foods

Some of the best anti aging foods are those that contain wholemeal such as wholemeal bread, rice and pasta. The reason for this is that these foods will give you more energy and having more energy means that you can stay active and fitter which will help to fight the aging process.

Water

Drinking plenty of water will help to keep your skin nourished and as we all know, our skin is one of the first places where the signs of aging will show. Water will help to flush out unwanted toxins from the body and it will ensure that your skin looks and feels healthy and beautiful. It is recommended that you drink at least six glasses of water every day.

LifeCell is a product of South Beach Skin Care out of Miami, FL. Its internet marketing includes some pretty bold claims about what the anti-aging cream can do, supported by customer testimonials as well endorsements by medical professionals. LifeCell’s active ingredients are said to:

revitalize the skin

eliminate the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and crow’s feet

improve the appearance of light damaged skin

reduce the visibility of age spots

protect the skin from showing the signs of future aging

add fullness to the lips

Active Ingredients

Dithiolane-3-Pentanic Acid (D3PA) – An antioxidant which fights wrinkles by reducing free radicals known to attack and damage the skin tissue. LifeCell maintains that D3PA has more “staying power” than other antioxidants, making their product better than the competition.

Ubiquinone – Ubiquinone is known as the “super antioxidant” and is believed by many scientists to be one of the best antioxidants available. The effectiveness of ubiquinone has been discussed in reports from such well-known media sources as NBC News, The New York Times, Fitness Magazine, and Time Magazine. Ubiquinone allegedly increases the body’s natural ability to produce collagen and elasticity, which in turn helps the skin remain looking young and healthy.

Deanol – A substance which helps the skin develop a firmer and leaner look by promoting the body’s natural production of acetycholine. Acetycholine is believed to be a factor in good muscle tone.

Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 – Acetyl Hexapeptide-3 is touted as a safe alternative to Botox, allegedly giving the same results without the use of needles or the potential damage to skin and muscle tissue.

Ascorbyl Palmitate – This fat-soluble vitamin C ingredient works to promote the natural production of collagen, reduce skin tissue inflammation, protect against ultraviolet rays, and lighten dark areas.

Customer Testimonials

LifeCell provides a plethora of customer testimonials which include “before” and “after” pictures. The product’s marketing materials even encourage customers to take their own pictures as proof. In fact, they claim that you can see results within 17 seconds of applying the product to your face.

These amazing immediate results are not due to a magical and powerful formula that rebuilds skin tissue instantly. Rather, by South Beach’s own mission, the instant results are achieved through the light reflecting properties of the cream’s ingredients.

The cream reduces the appearance of wrinkles and lines almost instantly because it reduces the amount of shadows that wrinkles cast on the skin. By allowing more light to be reflected onto the skin wrinkles and lines seem to fade away. This in no way suggests that LifeCell doesn’t do all of the other things that it promises, but simply to say that the initial effect is merely cosmetic.

Price and Guarantee

LifeCell’s 30-day money back guarantee allows customers to purchase the product and try it out for themselves with absolutely no risk. The only catch seems to be the price of the product, should you decide to keep it. At $189, the price tag is pretty steep for the average consumer. But if spending that much money on a wrinkle cream is not a problem for you, LifeCell may be worth a try.

Rather than being a single all-in-one skin care product, DNA EGF Renewal is a collection of six products that work together to promote healthy skin. The entire program is based on something known in the industry as the Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF). Dr. Moy’s plant-based EGF was discovered in Iceland by researchers at a renowned biotechnology firm. The substance comes from Icelandic barley and is said to encourage skin renewal at the cellular level. In addition, DNA EGF Renewal also contains enzymes that speed up the recovery process at the DNA level. The six products in the collection are:

Growth Factor Serum

DNA Intensive Renewal

DNA Might Renewal

DNA Eye Renewal

DNA Defense SPF 30+

Foaming Cleanser

Scientific Research

The biggest thing that sets DNA EGF Renewal apart from many of its competitors is the quantitative scientific research put into it by Dr. Moy and his staff. The Growth Factor Serum is but one example; it has been clinically proven in lab tests to encourage healthy skin cells and accelerate the growth of those cells. Furthermore, because Dr. Moy’s EGF compound is plant-based rather than bacterial, it is more stable and effective than other EGF compounds.

Furthermore, the enzymes used to promote DNA repair come from both plant and marine-based sources. These enzymes reportedly reduce environmental stress on the skin from things like pollution and ultraviolet light, as well as the natural aging process and stress. By promoting DNA repair, these enzymes speed up the process by which damaged skin cells are replaced, thus giving the skin a healthier and younger look.

Usage

Five of the six products in the collection are designed to be used on a daily basis. The exception is DNA Defense SPF 30+, which is designed to be used just prior to sun exposure. The products are easy to apply and can be added to your daily hygiene routine with just a few extra minutes. Some of the products are applied in the morning, others in the evening; at least one is recommended for use twice daily.

Pricing and Guarantee

Purchased separately, the individual products range in price between $70 and $140. The entire collection can be purchased together at a cost of $480. Promotional materials don’t specifically indicate how long the products should last but it is assumed to be between 30 and 90 days. You can purchase DNA EGF Renewal directly from their website, by calling the toll-free customer service line, or in various retail outlets around the country.

The company provides a 100% satisfaction guarantee if customers are not satisfied. However, there are certain conditions that apply to this offer. Returned products must have been purchased directly from the company, either over the phone or online, and no refund is given on products purchased from other retailers. Products must be returned within 45 days of purchase, accompanied by a copy of the receipt and a written explanation of the reason for dissatisfaction. The company may not refund for products they deem to been “over used”, and shipping and handling charges are non-refundable.

In fact, collagen injections have seen steady growth in popularity ever since their introduction, because they work. Yet the two biggest downsides of this therapy, the cost and the potential risk of damage to the skin tissue and facial muscles, means it’s not the ideal choice.

Kollagen Intensiv is a relatively new product on the wrinkle cream market, aimed at replacing standard collagen injections as a safe and effective alternative. The product is manufactured by Leading Edge Herbals based in Gray, TN, and has the backing of medical professionals and scientific studies. In fact, clinical tests prove that Kollagen Intensiv lives up to its claims by reducing the appearance of wrinkles by as much 354% over placebos. In addition, Kollagen Intensiv is said to:

encourage the body’s natural production of collagen

smooth, soften, and condition skin

reduce the appearance of pores, wrinkles, lines, crow’s feet, and under-eye circles

lighten and brighten the skin

balance the complexion by reducing the visibility of age and sun spots

improve elasticity and flexibility of the skin

How it Works

Target is based on a five-step system designed to completely rejuvenate your skin. The first step increases natural collagen production in the body which gives the skin the tightness and firmness one would expect from collagen injections. Step number two helps the skin to retain moisture, preventing dry and cracked skin which inhibits the rejuvenation process. Step three reduces damage caused by sun exposure and aging. Step four involves preventing glycation caused by reduced hormone levels in the body, thereby increasing the elasticity and firmness of the skin. Finally, step five reduces puffiness, crow’s feet, and under-eye circles by encouraging the body’s mechanisms to naturally fight these conditions.

Ingredients

Kollagen Intensiv has been formulated with a combination of 20 active ingredients including antioxidants, enzymes, fatty acids, minerals, oils, and vitamins. One of the key ingredients is a patented peptide the company calls SYN®-COLL. This ingredient was key in the scientific study mentioned earlier in this review. The volunteers who participated in the study applied either a placebo or SYN®-COLL, twice daily for 84 days. Those who used SYN®-COLL reported a dramatic improvement in the overall health and look of their skin.

All the ingredients contained in Kollagen Intensiv are natural, so the product is safe for just about anyone. Consumers who wish to see a full list of ingredients can do so by visiting the Kollagen Intensiv website.

Bargain Price

At $59.95 for a 30-day supply, target is significantly less expensive than some of its competitors. The company reduces the per-unit cost as larger quantities are ordered; a six-month supply is only $289.95. Customers who purchase the six-month supply Diamond Package save more than $70 and receive more than $250 in free gifts. The company provides free overnight shipping with the Diamond Package as well.

Kollagen Intensiv comes with a 90-day money back guarantee with absolutely no risk or obligation for future purchases. The company is so confident in their product that they will offer a full refund, minus shipping handling, for all products returned within 97 days of purchase — no questions asked. Target can be purchased online through a secure shopping cart or by calling the company’s toll-free, 24/7 order line. In addition, Kollagen Intensiv provides discreet packaging on all orders.

Based on the proven science of collagen, and the price and guarantee offered by the manufacturer, Kollagen Intensiv is a product that is worth your investment.

However getting older doesn’t mean we have to allow the effects of aging to impact how we look and feel. When it comes to the skin, there are several factors that can actually increase the negative effects of aging and in some cases, even accelerate them. If you know what these factors are, you can take the necessary steps to mitigate the effects they have on your skin. Below is a brief overview of seven of the most common factors leading to lines, wrinkles, and age spots.

Mimicry

Perhaps you remember your mother or grandmother telling you that if you continue to make funny faces your face will one day freeze in that position. While we know that’s not really true, the idea behind it does have a solid scientific basis.

When we’re first born, the human skin begins to develop a certain level of elasticity; that is, the ability to return to its original shape and position after being stretched out. Most adults have skin with good elasticity right up through their 20s and into their 30s.

However, as the body’s natural capability of producing collagen decreases, elasticity also decreases in direct proportion. The lost elasticity means that any facial expressions that we make frequently can cause lines and wrinkles to become permanent in the underlying tissues, because the skin is unable to return to its normal shape and position. This is called mimicry. Mimicry is common among artists, craftsmen, and others who work in detailed environments.

Gravity

Believe it or not, gravity also plays a major role in the appearance of our skin as we age. The older a person gets the more likely he is to experience shrinking bones and the loss of fat deposits in key areas of the body. When bones shrink they also retreat from muscle and skin and no longer provide the tension required to keep the skin taut. Likewise, when we lose fat deposits, especially in places like the eye sockets and the jaw, the skin that once covered these fat deposits is now left to hang loosely.

In both cases, since skin does not shrink, it hangs down due to the forces of gravity. This sagging of the skin is largely responsible for bags under the eyes, bags under the chin, and other noticeable skin deformities.

Bad Habits

Bad personal habits are one of the easiest to deal with in terms of mitigating the effects of aging on the skin. Perhaps one of the most well-known bad habits that contribute to aging is a cigarette smoking. Cigarette smoking actually accelerates the effects of aging in a couple of ways. First and foremost, the various chemical agents in the smoke enter the bloodstream and affect all of the body’s cells negatively. Part of that negative effect is a breakdown of skin cells.

Secondly, cigarette smoking robs the body of vitamin C. This vitamin is absolutely essential in maintaining healthy skin, and it’s what gives our skin its softness, suppleness, and plumpness. As the body naturally sees a shortage of vitamin C with the aging process, it is only exacerbated by cigarette smoking. Excessive use of alcohol may also contribute to skin aging in a similar manner.

Sleep Habits

Lack of sleep and sleep positions are two more factors that can cause wrinkles and lines in the face. Beginning with the lack of sleep, a continuation of this practice makes the face look and feel tired. Dark circles under the eyes resulting from a lack of sleep can eventually cause permanent cell damage if continued long enough. Lack of sleep can also contribute to sagging skin under the eyes.

The position you take when sleeping every night is another culprit, though the idea seems to run contrary to what we know about sleep. But if you are one who sleeps on his stomach, repeatedly with one side of your face against the pillow night after night, that may result in wrinkles and lines on that side of your face. Your skin needs to be able to move and breathe, but if it’s restricted by the pillow 8 hours per night, every night, it cannot do what it naturally needs to do.

Sun Exposure

The sun’s rays are well known to be damaging to the skin. Ultraviolet (UV) rays especially are known to cause skin cancer as well as aging spots, or sun spots, as they are sometimes known. Excessive sun exposure can cause freckles to turn to brown spots, cause drying out of the skin, and even cause severe burns. Sun damaged skin is manifested in the face with wrinkles and lines.

Lack of Exercise

Among the many healthy benefits of exercise is the fact that daily activity tones of the muscles and increases blood flow. Toned muscles remain firm and taught, keeping the pressure on the skin consistently applied. Muscles that are not exercised regularly lose their tone and shape, thus contributing to sagging skin and wrinkles. As far as blood flow is concerned increased circulation insures the skin continues to receive all the necessary nutrients it needs thereby, keeping it healthy.

Stress

Stress can accelerate the appearance of wrinkles and lines much the same way mimicry does. The biggest difference between the two is the fact that mimicry is generally associated with specific actions – like squinting among people who work outdoors. Likewise, stress is associated with wrinkles and lines which develop as a result of negative facial expressions.

Not only does stress encourage lines and wrinkles as the skin’s elasticity is reduced, but the overall ill health that can result from stress can further inhibit the ability of the body to regenerate and rejuvenate skin cells. A person whose face constantly shows signs of stress will look older and more tired prematurely. Reducing stress goes a long way in extending your life and reducing the effects of aging on the skin.

As far as wrinkles in the skin go, the ones that develop in the neck can be some of the hardest to deal with. This is primarily due to the leathery nature of the skin which toughened up over the years through constant exposure clothing and the weather. Once neck wrinkles begin to appear they generally grow worse. Fortunately there are treatment methods that help reduce the appearance of these wrinkles.

There are two kinds of neck wrinkles — horizontal and vertical. The definition of both should be self-evident. The more common of the two is the horizontal version, which generally occurs as a result of the natural aging process. Less common are the vertical wrinkles that usually have nothing to do with age. They develop as a result of certain human behaviors.

Horizontal Neck Wrinkles

Horizontal neck wrinkles began to form as the skin starts losing its elasticity and natural collagen production is reduced. Without enough collagen and elasticity, the skin is unable to fully return to his normal position after being stretched, and wrinkles inevitably develop. Gravity takes over from there, pulling on the skin mercilessly.

Excessive exposure to cold weather and sun only make horizontal neck wrinkles worse. As the skin is exposed to such environmental conditions, it can dry out, chafe, and even experience significant cell damage. The damaged skin is then less able to fight off the natural effects of aging. Botox and face lift surgery are two methods to combat neck wrinkles but unfortunately, the results of both usually do not look natural.

Vertical Wrinkles

Interestingly enough, vertical neck wrinkles have nothing to do with the aging process. They almost always develop as the result of one of two scenarios. The first scenario is a sleeping position which causes creasing of the skin as the neck makes contact with the pillow. People who move very little in their sleep are much more likely to develop vertical neck wrinkles, while those who tend to turn more don’t see them as often.

The other cause of vertical neck wrinkles is excessive sunlight exposure. As previously mentioned, excessive sunlight dries out the skin and can even cause burns of one agree or another. Sun damaged skin tends to sag, which can result in vertical lines in the neck. These vertical lines can be made worse by repetitive flexing of the neck in one direction or another. In either case, because gravity is normally not a factor in vertical neck wrinkles, they are much more easily treated than their horizontal counterparts.

Treatment of Neck Wrinkles

The most common treatment for neck wrinkles is a combination of exercises and professional treatment. Neck exercises strengthen the muscles and keep them well toned which helps to maintain tautness of the skin. Professional treatments can range anywhere from Botox injections to laser treatments to a complete face lift. However, a safer and much more natural treatment for neck wrinkles is a topical anti-aging cream. Combined with other nutritional supplements, an anti-aging cream can be very effective in fighting neck wrinkles.

When it comes to the various types of facial wrinkles, none can ruin your smile quite like lip wrinkles. Lip wrinkles completely change the tone and look of the face, causing embarrassment to many who have them. Unfortunately, wrinkles are a fact of life. They are caused most frequently by the natural aging process; a process we cannot stop.

Lip wrinkles are classified either as those occurring in the lips themselves or in the skin surrounding the mouth. Those that form in the surrounding skin begin at the base of the lips and travel up or down depending on the location. A person with excessive lip wrinkles can be hard to read emotionally because the wrinkles make it difficult to perceive facial expression.

Causes of Lip Wrinkles

As previously mentioned, the main cause of lip wrinkles is the natural aging process. However, there are other things we do that contribute to them. One good example is waxing of the upper lip. As unsightly as it may be for a woman to have hair on her upper lip, waxing is harmful to the skin and can even accelerate the onset of wrinkles. This is due to the fact that lip waxing stretches the skin violently as the wax is pulled away. This abnormal stretching is very likely to show up later in lines and wrinkles.

Another avoidable culprit in the formation of lip wrinkles is cigarette smoking. On the outside of the mouth, cigarette smoke dries out the skin and pollutes individual cells with carcinogens. This skin damage makes it harder for cells to be rejuvenated and re-energized during the sleep process. Cigarette smoking also makes it harder for the body to naturally exfoliate dead cells, especially around the mouth.

Furthermore, cigarette smoke depletes the body of vitamin C which then inhibits cell rebuilding, reduces the plumpness and firmness of the skin, and contributes to the loss of elasticity. Cigarette smokers are far more likely to develop lip wrinkles at an early age than non-smokers. Some scientists suggest that pursing the lips in order to smoke is another factor.

Preventing Lip Wrinkles

If you’re a smoker, the first thing you can do to prevent lip wrinkles is to quit smoking. Though it may sound remarkable, damage caused to the lungs and the skin by cigarette smoking can be healed by the body rather quickly. In fact, research shows that the body’s self-healing mechanisms begin to work on smoke damaged lungs and skin within 24 hours of quitting. Thirty days later some people don’t even exhibit any signs that they ever smoked.

Avoiding lip waxing, using lip balm in cold weather, avoiding long-term sun exposure, and maintaining a healthy diet are all things you can do to help reduce the onset of lip wrinkles. Topical creams which include collagen and vitamin C as key ingredients are another treatment method that works well. The combination of all these things should be enough for most people to prevent lip wrinkles from coming on prematurely.

Maybe you’ve heard the saying that men look more distinguished with age while women just look old. Would you agree? It’s also been said that forehead wrinkles make a man look wise yet on a women they are just plain ugly. What are your thoughts? Regardless of whether or not you agree with these statements, it can’t be denied that there are plenty of people of both sexes who are unhappy about developing wrinkles in the forehead. And the younger one is when he begins to see them form, the more stressful it can be.

There are several different factors contributing to the development of the forehead wrinkles including:

normal aging

stress

cigarette smoking

mimicry

gravity

Horizontal and Vertical Wrinkles

Forehead wrinkles occur both horizontally and vertically. The horizontal lines are the most common and pronounced, appearing across the surface of the forehead in wide swaths. They can occur anywhere between the hairline and the top of the eyebrows and can vary in depth and length. Exactly what individual forehead wrinkles look like depend entirely upon the underlying causes. Forehead wrinkles usually begin to appear around middle age, becoming deeper and more pronounced as we get older.

Vertical wrinkles are usually less pronounced and occur just above the nose and between the eyebrows. These wrinkles are less common but can be just as annoying to those who have them. Vertical wrinkles are almost always caused by repetitive facial expressions that push the skin together between the eyes.

Stress and Mimicry

In addition to normal aging, stress and mimicry are the most common causes of forehead wrinkles. When we’re young, our skin is very elastic and able to snap back into place after it’s been stretched. Unfortunately, the skin loses elasticity as we age, and frequent facial expressions and muscle movements can cause a skin to begin bearing of the marks left by those movements. Once forehead wrinkles develop, they usually get worse over time.

Stress is one of the most important factors in the equation due to the fact that it simply has bad effects on the entire body. Where the face is concerned, stress causes people to do such things as rub their foreheads, hold their heads in their hands, experience frequent emotional outbursts, and carry worried or depressed expressions on the face. All of these things contribute to muscle movements that can result in the formation of forehead wrinkles. It stands to reason that the reduction of stress is one of the best weapons in fighting them.

Treating Forehead Wrinkles

There are several things we can do to prevent the onset of forehead wrinkles and reduce the ones that we already have. Among those things are a proper diet, good exercise, the reduction of stress, and careful attention in avoiding repetitive facial expressions. We can also include in our daily hygiene regimen the use of a wrinkle cream which helps to rebuild and strengthen the skin. With daily application and a concerted effort to change our habits, forehead wrinkles can be avoided.

Skin wrinkles on the chest are something most of us never think about until we start looking beyond middle age. That’s because most people don’t develop chest wrinkles until they reach their late 50s or early 60s. When they do begin to form they can be an unsightly embarrassment which drastically affects a person’s lifestyle. Many people are embarrassed to the extent that they won’t go swimming, or enjoy a day at the beach, if that means their chests must be uncovered.

Chest wrinkles are part of the natural aging process which everyone undergoes. And while we can’t stop aging, there are some other factors involved in chest wrinkles that we do have some control over. Some of the things that contribute to the onset of chest wrinkles include:

excessive sun exposure

cigarette smoking,

excess weight loss and lack of exercise

reduction in hormone levels (in women only)

gravity

The Mechanics

Regardless of whether your chest wrinkles are solely the result of aging, or the combination of aging and some of the other factors mentioned above, the mechanics behind the wrinkles are the same. During the peak physical years of a person’s life, his skin remains tightly stretched over the muscles and fat deposits. But as we age, bone density, muscle mass, and fat deposits all begin to recede. Since the skin does not shrink to the same extent, it tends to sag and wrinkle. Those wrinkles are made worse due to the natural forces of gravity.

Regular exercise that keeps the chest muscles firm and toned is one way to help fight against chest wrinkles. You don’t need to exercise excessively to the point of bulking up muscle mass, all you need is just enough to keep the chest muscles firm. A personal trainer can guide you in the type of exercises, and their duration, to accomplish a firm chest. Just be careful not to over exercise and build excess muscle mass, or you’ll have to continue that rate of exercise to prevent future muscle loss and subsequent wrinkles.

Other Treatments for Chest Wrinkles

Another very good treatment for chest wrinkles is to use sunblock whenever your chest will be uncovered outdoors. Make sure your sunblock has an SPF rating that is suitable for blocking most ultraviolet rays. In addition to protecting your skin from further damage, this sort of sunblock also helps somewhat in rebuilding and rejuvenating damaged skin. Remember that sun block needs to be reapplied every few hours if you plan to be outside for an extended period of time.

Finally, the market is flush with anti-aging creams that also can be a big help. Look for products that contain both collagen and in vitamin C, as these two ingredients are vital in maintaining healthy and youthful skin. There are some products containing enzymes that promote tissue rebuilding at the DNA level. These are also good choices that you should consider. As always, never forget the benefits of a healthy diet and plenty of rest.

Wrinkling of the skin is a common symptom of age. We see wrinkles around the mouth, in the forehead, and on the neck, yet the wrinkles that seem to stand out the most are those around the eyes. That makes perfect sense when you consider the fact that the first things we notice when meeting new people are their eyes. Eye wrinkles can appear as crow’s feet, tear troughs, or bags under the eyes.

Crow’s Feet

Among the three major types of eye wrinkles, crow’s feet are perhaps the ones that are most noticeable. Crow’s feet are lines that begin at the outer corners of the eyes and fan out into the facial skin. This natural fanning effect causes them to look very similar to the spiny foot of a crow; thus the name. Depending on the person, crow’s feet can be very deep and can stretch significantly into the side of the face.

Crow’s feet can be caused by a number of things including repetitive facial expressions and long-term exposure to sunlight or cold weather. For people who work outdoors, squinting to protect the eyes from bright sunlight is an easily developed habit. If you were a grounds keeper with a 40-year career for example, it would be understandable for you to develop crow’s feet as the result of squinting all day at work. Using sunglasses and a wide brim hat can reduce squinting and the onset of crow’s feet.

For people who work in colder climates, the winter winds can be especially damaging to the skin. In fact, wind burn is common for outdoor workers in northern states. Excessive exposure to cold weather and whipping winds dries out the skin severely, something which is exacerbated by the natural squinting reflex the body uses to protect the eyes during foul weather. A pair of snow goggles is a good idea for those who work outdoors in colder climates.

Tear Troughs and Bags

Bags under the eyes need little explanation as to what they are. Tear troughs are a different matter. These are wrinkles and lines that begin on the inside corners of the eyes and work downward along the slope of the nose. If a person has dark circles or bags under the eyes, tear troughs can go unnoticed. Otherwise, they are as visible and annoying as crow’s feet. The two biggest causes of these kinds of wrinkles are gravity and cigarette smoking.

As we get older, the fat deposits around the eye sockets and above the cheeks begins to fade away. These fatty deposits kept the skin tight in our younger days, but now skin hangs loosely as the underlying tissue disappears. As those fat deposits recede, gravity takes over and tear troughs and bags appear.

One of the things that bother us the most about eye wrinkles is that they cause us to look old and tired. Getting plenty of rest, maintaining a healthy diet, and applying topical anti-aging creams are all things we can do to reduce the appearance of eye wrinkles.

For many older people, getting up in the morning and looking in the mirror is a daily exercise in learning to recognize new wrinkles. We become familiar with the ones we see day after day and yet, we seem surprised when new wrinkles appear. If you’re still young, you might even be dreading the day when you begin looking in the mirror only to see something that resembles a piece of dirty clothing you picked up off the bedroom floor. Well, there’s no need to panic. Knowing the different kinds of wrinkles, and how they form, is the first step in reducing them as much as possible.

While we cannot stop the aging process, heavy wrinkles are not a foregone conclusion by any stretch of the imagination. Proper skincare habits in combination with various anti-aging creams can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and other skin blemishes. All it takes is some basic knowledge of how the skin works, and a commitment to change our habits, to make healthy, youthful-looking skin a reality. The following paragraphs briefly describe the five common types of wrinkles and what causes them.

Forehead Wrinkles

Forehead wrinkles come in two types: vertical and horizontal. The vertical wrinkles usually occur between the eyebrows, just above the nose. Horizontal wrinkles occur all across the entire surface of the forehead, anywhere between the top of the eyebrows and the hairline. They are usually the first wrinkles to be noticed and are common in people as young as their late 30s and early 40s. There are a variety of causes including gravity, sun exposure, and normal aging.

The most common cause of forehead wrinkles however, seems to be repetitive facial expressions and muscle movements. People who frequently squint because of vision problems or bright sunlight commonly develop deep forehead wrinkles. They’re also common in people who work in high stress environments. The formation of a forehead wrinkles via facial expressions and muscle movements are called mimicry.

Eye Wrinkles

Wrinkles around the eyes develop in the form of crow’s feet, tear troughs, and under-eye bags. These wrinkles have a variety of causes depending on what part of the eye they form near. Crow’s feet for example, are usually the result of exposure to extreme weather and frequent facial muscle movements, like squinting. These wrinkles form deep lines that begin in the outer corners of the eye and work outward into the rest of the face. The shape they take as they spread out reminds one of a crow’s foot, thus the name.

Tear troughs and bags under the eyes are generally the result of gravity as fat deposits around the eye sockets and the upper portion of the cheek began to recede. As these fat deposits begin to fade there is nothing under the skin to keep it stretched out, thereby causing the skin to hang loosely and form these wrinkles.

Neck Wrinkles

The most common form of neck wrinkles are horizontal lines known as “Venus’s Rings”. These are usually the first wrinkles the form on the neck and are caused by normal aging and the effects of gravity. It’s not uncommon to see Venus’s Rings begin to form as early as the late 20s and early 30s, especially in people who are subjected to severe weather on a regular basis. Vertical wrinkles are also not uncommon on the neck and can be caused by sun exposure and certain repetitive muscle movements.

Back ripples are some of the most difficult to treat because of the leathery texture of the skin in that area. However, it’s not impossible to deal with them. With the right treatment and some preventative measures they can be almost completely eliminated.

Lip Wrinkles

For many people, especially older women, lip wrinkles are some of the most unattractive one can develop with age. Lip wrinkles usually appear as vertical lines that start in the lips and run upward and downward into the surrounding skin. To one extent or another most people develop lip wrinkles as they age.

The primary cause of lip wrinkles is the slowing down of the body’s natural production of collagen, one of the substances which give plumpness and firmness to the skin. Just as collagen injections have been used as a means of making the lips look fuller and plumper, it can also help decrease lip wrinkles.

Chest Wrinkles

Wrinkles on the chest are the ones easiest to hide by simply making sure we always wear a shirt. But they can be the most embarrassing on trips to the beach or swimming in the family pool. Many people suffer during hot weather because they are ashamed of chest wrinkles and refuse to uncover. Fortunately, this doesn’t have to be the case.

Chest wrinkles usually begin to form sometime in the 40s or 50s. Most commonly, they are caused by the combination of gravity and the weight of the skin itself, which tends to be heavier in the chest region. As muscle tone is lost and fat deposits begin to fade away, the weight of the chest skin is forced down by gravity and forms wrinkles. Chest wrinkles are usually horizontal but can be vertical for people who have lost excessive amounts of weight. Chest wrinkles should not be confused with stretch marks, which are an entirely different animal.

Unfortunately, the natural process of aging is something that none of us can stop. With every passing day we age. And with that age, comes certain physiological changes which cannot be avoided. But where blemishes, wrinkles, and lines are concerned, there are plenty of things we can do to reduce their appearance. In some cases, they can even be eliminated totally. Being cognizant of our personal habits, environment, stress levels, diet, and exercise, we can make certain lifestyle changes which will enable us to reduce the signs of aging. Thankfully, health and beauty aid manufactures are developing new skin products every day that help significantly in the battle against wrinkles.

Sun exposure is one of the most detrimental things for the human skin. This is unfortunate, due to the fact that most of us love to be outside on a bright, sunny day. But the fact remains that skin left unprotected from UV rays is more likely to suffer long-term damage that can cause the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and blemishes. In some people, continued sun exposure can even cause skin cancers.

Sun Exposure and Collagen

The human body naturally produces collagen which aids in giving the skin its elasticity and firmness. When we’re young, we produce enough collagen to overcome all of the abuse our skin takes. But as we age, collagen production slows down significantly. Sun exposure only makes things worse because it increases the rate of collagen breakdown. It also inhibits the production of new collagen. Continued exposure to the sun has been scientifically linked to the reduction of collagen, and the subsequent appearance of skin blemishes and wrinkles.

In addition, the sun tends to dry out the skin surface and encourage a mottled complexion and sun spots. The drying process can result in leathery skin or even a disorder known as actinic keratoses. This is a condition where thick patches of reddish skin develop, almost like warts or boils. The good news is that most sun-damaged skin can be repaired, including actinic keratoses.

Photoaging

Photoaging is a term used to describe the effects of light and sun exposure on naturally aging skin. Throughout our lives skin cells are continually replaced as old ones die and new ones are created. In young, healthy skin, damaged and dead cells are replaced fast enough to overcome the environmental factors and bad habits that cause damage. Unfortunately, continued sun exposure slows down the rejuvenation process to a point where the body’s natural mechanisms have a tougher time overcoming skin damage. In terms of photoaging, the sun is accelerating the aging process because it’s inhibiting the rejuvenation of skin cells.

Photoaging is most commonly seen in people with light complexions and those living in more sunny climates. Darker skinned individuals are less likely to experience the condition because the melanin in their skin provides more protection from the sun. It’s also been proven that light skinned individuals are at higher risk for skin cancers if they spend a lot of time in the sun unprotected.

Protect Yourself

You can immediately protect yourself from sun exposure by using sunblock whenever you plan to be outdoors for an extended period of time. Make sure your sunblock is rated high enough to block out UV rays for hours at a time. For sun damage that has already occurred, there are many natural skin care products on the market that will help rebuild the skin and heal the damage. Natural anti-aging creams and ointments are a great option to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, lines, and blemishes on the face.

There are many different factors that cause us to develop lines, wrinkles, and age spots on the skin. Some of them can’t be avoided, while others can. For instance, did you know that your sleeping habits can cause your face to look old? It’s true. The position we sleep in and how much sleep we get both affect whether or not we are adding to the natural aging process which causes lines and wrinkles.

Sleep Position

In order for the skin to remain healthy and young-looking it needs to be able to move and breathe. This is especially true when we’re sleeping. People who sleep on their side or their belly tend to see a higher incidence of developing facial wrinkles. It makes perfect sense, if you stop and think about.

You’ve seen the sleep lines in your own face when you first wake up in the morning. These lines are caused by your face being buried in the pillow all night long. They go away very quickly when we’re young, but the older one gets the less elastic his skin is, and those sleep lines can become permanently etched in the underlying tissue of the face. People who sleep on their backs are much less likely to see sleep lines become permanent lines or wrinkles.

Furthermore, part of the cell rejuvenation process is the removal of dead skin cells as they are replaced with new ones. When a portion of your face is in contact with a pillow for eight hours it becomes much more difficult for this to happen. This hinders the rebuilding process while encouraging skin blemishes.

Lack of Sleep

Experts estimate that the average adult needs between 7 and 9 hours of sleep per night for maximum rest and tissue rebuilding. Unfortunately, the same experts suggest that most of us average only 6 to 7 hours. And where does the first place a lack of sleep shows up? In the face. You see it with dark circles under the eyes and saggy, drawn-out skin. Just like sleep position can aggravate the natural effects of aging, lack of sleep can actually accelerate the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, crow’s feet, etc.

Lack of sleep negatively affects the skin in another way as well. Sleep serves the purpose of allowing the body to rest and repair after a long day of damaging behavior. The more rest one gets, the more his body is able to repair itself. A lack of sleep inhibits the body’s repair mechanisms which become evident in the skin.

Things You Can Do

Where sleep is concerned, the best thing to do is to create a pleasant sleep environment which allows 8 or 9 hours of rest. Along with good sleep habits, you can also introduce a regimen of anti-aging cream applied to the face, and a host of other natural supplements that will increase overall health. You may not be able to prevent aging altogether, but you can certainly slow down the effects it has on your skin.

In 1969, the rock group Blood Sweat & Tears introduced us to their now-famous song entitled “Spinning Wheel.” The song opened with the line “what goes up must come down…” – a stark reminder of the reality of gravity. Gravity affects everything we do from walking down the street to laying in bed at night. Without gravity our feet would not stay firmly planted and we would float off into the atmosphere. But for all the good that gravity does, it’s responsible for some things are not so good. One of those things is the effect it has on the skin.

Gravity forces everything in a downward motion, including the skin. It’s just that it’s not noticeable when we’re young because there are other factors in play. As the body ages and goes through specific physiological changes, the effects of gravity on the skin become more and more noticeable. The question is, since we can’t prevent gravity, can we influence how much or how little it affects the skin? Fortunately, the answer is a resounding “yes.”

Skin Growth

When a baby is firstborn, the total surface area of the skin is obviously the least it will be in his lifetime. As the human body grows, the skin stretches and grows along with it to accommodate the changes, reaching a peak physical size somewhere between the late teens and mid-20s. With the extra pounds usually added around the midsection, the skin will stretch to accommodate increased size. Unfortunately, it doesn’t shrink so easily.

Gravity and Aging

Loss of bone density and mass is common as we age, more so among women than men. But in both sexes, as bones are reduced in size they retreat from muscles and skin, thereby leading to less overall body size. Muscles and tendons will retreat as well, and even shrink somewhat as their usage is reduced, but skin will remain the same. Knowing this, it’s easy to see why the effects of gravity are more noticeable as we age.

Another culprit in gravity-induced skin issues comes in the form of fatty deposits. While it’s common for people to put on excess weight as they age, certain fatty deposits in the body actually disappear in later years. One of the places this commonly occurs is around the eye sockets. As the fatty tissue is eliminated the skin begins to sag, resulting in bags under the eyes. We see similar sagging along the jaw line, under the chin, and on the neck.

Combating the Affects of Gravity

Good overall health, including proper diet, goes a long way in helping combat the effects of gravity on the skin. A calcium rich diet helps to reduce bone density while maintaining good levels of vitamin C also help to promote suppleness and elasticity. But since gravity itself cannot be avoided, the addition of anti-aging creams will also help mitigate the effects of gravity on the skin. These topical creams promote rejuvenation and rebuilding of skin cells, improved elasticity, and increased plumpness; all effective in combating gravity.

It is true that we live in the world with very high levels of stress. We can see it everywhere we look – from work to home to social gatherings. Stress comes as a result of a lost job, a serious family illness, even relationship troubles. It is everywhere and it is unhealthy. The first place you’ll notice the signs of stress is in the face. Gloomy looks of despair, constant frowns, withdrawn eye; they are all signs of stress.

Unfortunately, most people don’t realize that continued stress can cause aging of the skin. This is particularly true in the face because it responds so significantly to our emotions. People who experience a lot of stress in their lives tend to develop wrinkles, under-eye circles, and sagging skin more often than those who don’t.

Mimicry is Related to Stress

We talking about aging skin, mimicry is a condition where the skin begins to mimic muscle movement. In other words, someone who smiles a lot may see “laugh lines” develop in the cheeks, because the repetitive facial expression causes the skin to mimic this muscle position. As we age the skin loses elasticity, and those repetitive muscle motions begin to leave permanent marks.

Likewise, the person who frowns repeatedly can also develop lines and wrinkles. The daily expressions in the face of the stressed person can produce crow’s feet, wrinkles in the forehead, and lines descending from the corners of the mouth. In other words, when your mother told you that making funny faces would cause your face to freeze that way, she was only half kidding.

Stress is Bad Overall

Stress is bad for the body overall. It can lead to poor digestion, poor blood circulation, increased blood pressure, elevated sugar levels, and so much more. In addition, the hormones released in stressful situations are also not good in excess. All of these things lead to poor health which has a long-lasting effect on the skin.

When stress is accompanied by an outburst of anger, it can be especially detrimental. Such emotional outbursts increase both blood flow and pressure, and may cause capillaries near the surface of the skin to burst. At the very least, the blood vessels feeding the skin dilate and increase the blood flow to skin cells. This is what causes a flushed face. Someone who frequently loses their temper in a fit of anger and gets a flushed face as a result is more likely to endure skin damage which later will result in blemishes and a mottled complexion.

Avoid Stress

It’s always a good idea to avoid stress whether we’re talking about skin health or your overall general health. If you’re in a high stress situation, seek help in learning how you relax more for better overall health. To repair skin that’s already damaged, or to prevent future damage, consider natural wrinkle creams and anti-aging supplements. They will go a long way in helping you maintain healthy and youthful skin for years to come.

In medical terms, mimicry describes several different conditions ranging from molecular malfunctions to immune disorders to muscle issues. When the term is applied to facial expressions and aging, it is one of the things that contribute to wrinkles, lines, crow’s feet, etc. Simply put, mimicry implies copied or mimicked behavior – regardless of how the term is applied medically. Mimicry is a natural part of the human existence, but its effects on the skin and facial muscles can be lessened if people gain the necessary knowledge and make some simple changes to help avoid it.

In terms of the skin, it stretches in various ways to accommodate muscle and body movement. When a specific facial expression or movement is done repeatedly, the skin begins to “memorize” its location relative to the movement and lines and wrinkles eventually develop. Facial lines and wrinkles resulting from mimicry are very common among people whose work causes continual facial contortions that they are not normally aware of. People who work outdoors are a good example, because of the natural tendency to squint in bright sunlight.

The Problem of Elasticity

As it relates to the skin, elasticity is the ability of the skin to return to its normal position after being stretched. Think of it like a rubber band. As you stretch a rubber band out it conforms to whatever direction you are manipulating it in. But it will return to its normal shape and position when you stop stretching. Our skin works the same way. However, good skin elasticity requires two things: collagen and vitamin C. Collagen is naturally produced by the body while vitamin C comes from external sources.

As the body ages it slowly stops producing collagen at the same levels it did it its younger years. Additionally, overall health and environmental factors combine to rob the body of necessary vitamin C. As both collagen and vitamin C are reduced, the skin loses its ability to “snap back” into place. Thus, the lines and wrinkles that temporarily result from facial expressions can become permanent in the underlying facial tissue if those expressions are repeated frequently.

Avoidable Versus Unavoidable Mimicry

Some forms of mimicry can be avoided without remaining completely expressionless for the majority of our lives. Since that’s not possible, working on avoidable mimicry is the best way to reduce wrinkles and lines caused by it. Using the previous example of a person who works outdoors, wearing sunglasses and a hat works very well in stopping the squinting reflex.

Artists, craftsman, and others who work with small or detailed objects can avoid job-related mimicry as well. A headset magnifying glass makes it easier to see small objects and can, like the sunglasses and hat, put an end to the squinting reflex.

Regardless of the cause of mimicry, its effects can be reduced by understanding what repetitive facial expressions apply to your daily routine and changing what you can to reduce their frequency. With the addition of wrinkle creams and other natural health supplements, lines, wrinkles, and age spots can be totally eliminated for many people.

Bad habits. They’re something our mothers warned us about when we were young, promising they would have long-lasting negative effects. It goes without saying that bad habits are never good – especially when the damage they cause is so readily seen by other people. One such scenario are the detrimental effects some bad habits have on the skin.

We can stop neither the aging process nor the physiological changes that come with it. However, sometimes our bad habits make those changes worse; other times they even accelerate the changes. Such is the case with the skin. Some of the bad habits that we participate in actually accelerate and exacerbate the development of wrinkles, lines, age spots, under-the-eye circles, and so on. If we learn to recognize those bad habits and avoid them, we will be in a much better position to maintain healthy and young-looking skin.

Cigarette Smoking

One of the single-most damaging bad habits for the skin is cigarette smoking. Besides the obvious increase in risk for lung cancer and other respiratory illnesses, cigarette smoking causes damage to the body that affects the skin in several ways. First off, the chemicals in cigarette smoke are absorbed into the bloodstream when the smoke enters the lungs. Those chemicals are passed on through the body wherever blood as needed; that includes the skin. Skin cells are damaged by those chemicals and must be replaced. As we age skin cell replacement naturally decreases, so cigarette smoke simply adds to the problem.

Second is the matter of vitamin C. Vitamin C is one of the things that helps your skin retain its elasticity. It also adds plumpness and helps in the creation of new skin cells. Cigarette smoking hinders these processes because it robs the body of vitamin C. Again, as we age the body processes vitamin C to a lesser degree. That fact alone has a detrimental effect on the skin. But when cigarette smoking is part of the equation the lack of vitamin C becomes more of an issue.

Excessive Alcohol Use

Another bad habit damaging to the skin is excessive alcohol use. When we consume alcohol it dilates the blood vessels. The small vessels near the surface of the skin open up to increase blood flow to the cells. Over time, if alcohol is consistently consumed in excess, the cells at the surface of the skin can become permanently damaged. This is manifested by a flushed look on the face of someone who drinks excessively.

Other Bad Habits

There are certainly other bad habits that have a negative effect on the skin including illicit drug use, poor personal hygiene, and poor diet. The good news is that all these bad habits can be avoided. For those who do so, they are one step ahead in slowing down the appearance of wrinkles and lines. By adding wrinkle creams and other healthy skin supplements to a lifestyle of good habits, it is possible to have healthy and youthful skin all the way into the later stages of life.

Believe it or not, a sedentary lifestyle does more than just put on excess weight. It contributes to a whole host of health issues including the appearance of aging in the skin. Lack of exercise has been linked to an overall “old” look including crow’s feet, bags under the eyes, and an assortment of wrinkles and lines. Conversely, those who exercise regularly as they grow older are much better able to avoid these things.

The Relationship between the Two

It’s well documented that moderate regular exercise helps keep the muscles toned and the body in overall better condition. Toned muscles keep the skin taught, thereby preventing sagging and wrinkling. People who continue moderate exercise into their older years find this to be true even as they age. On the other hand, those who fail to exercise will notice lost muscle tone and mass which results in excess skin hanging loosely.

One caution in this discussion is to be careful how much exercise you do. If you exercise just enough to burn all the calories you consume and keep your muscles of firm, you should have no problem with skin in the future; but if you bulk up and build excess muscle mass, you will need to retain that mass into your later years to prevent sagging skin. That means you will be required to do the same of exercise when you’re 60 as you did when you’re 20.

Hidden Benefits

One of the hidden benefits of regular exercise is that those who in engage in it’s tend to also take better care of themselves in other ways. This includes a healthy diet. Making sure you’re eating properly, including a good supply of certain vitamins and nutrients, promotes healthy and youthful skin. As an added bonus, many of the nutritional supplements produced for weight loss and exercise purposes contain things like vitamin C, which is necessary in maintaining the elasticity of the skin.

Finally, one other hidden benefit of regular exercise is increased energy and blood flow. Skin cells, like any other cells in the body, need a proper amount of blood flow in order to receive oxygen and nutrients. Regular exercise improves circulation and insures that blood flow occurs at a good rate.

The aerobic burst of energy experienced during exercise also stimulates circulation which continues for some time after exercise is complete. During this window of time, the body immediately begins its rebuilding process, taking advantage of the increased blood and oxygen. This is an optimal time for skin cells in the face to regenerate.

Exercise Doesn’t Stop Aging

It would be foolish for us to suggest that regular exercise stops the aging process; it does not. But proper exercise can reduce the effects of aging on the skin if continued into the older years. If you combine your daily exercise routine with some nutritional supplements and anti-aging creams, you should be able to maintain youthful looking skin throughout the course of your life.
